Build a Web Page
A course for adult learners.
This is a basic course for those who have never built a web page before.
It is based on the idea that once you understand how the internet works, the production of web pages is easy. Technical terms are kept to an absolute minimum. The course is a non-technical overview, and practical start, for beginners.
Students should by the end of the course have established their own basic web site (at no extra cost). It is expected that students have their own access to the internet and can practice techniques outside of class hours.
Most of the course time is spent in basic instruction and discussion. The course outline is a guide to what is discussed, not techniques you will master.
This course is offered through Community Education. The course is available at Tawa College, (contact Judith Havill telephone 04 232 7163 or email Tawa College Community Education); and occasionally at Mana College, (contact Pam Ringrose telephone 04 238 1225). The tutor is Robert Shaw. The course fee is around $60 per student for a total of 8 hours in a class of about 10 students. This is a community education course subsidised by the New Zealand Government.
There is a class email list that provides information, support, and motivation, during the course. Should any student not be on the list they should email Robert Shaw.
